Coating and mold reconditioning

Vitrum works closely with the company JMO.

Glass forming enables the cost-efficient and scalable production of high-precision optics. The service life of the forming tools is decisive for the economic efficiency of the process chain.

Coating to extend the service life:

Correctly matching the expansion coefficients of the substrate and coating materials is crucial for the design of wear protection coatings. Good wear protection systems can significantly increase the service life of the mold tools and the component quality.

Reconditioning of tools as a cost-effective alternative to purchasing new tools:

Previously coated mold tools can be reconditioned when they reach the end of their service life. After de-coating, the tools can be coated again. This form of reconditioning is significantly cheaper than producing a new mold.
